Bluegrass was born out of the traditional Irish and Scottish music that came to the Appalachian region by early American settlers. The Backsliders Bluegrass Band carry on the tradition of passing along the soulful “high lonesome” singing and dynamic instrumentals characteristic of today’s bluegrass music by entertaining enthusiastic audiences at clubs and festivals throughout eastern Ontario and the Ottawa Valley. The Backsliders Bluegrass Band consists of Jason McDonald as lead vocalist and mandolin player, Don Fletcher on fiddle, Ed Sexton on guitar and harmony vocals, Warren Recoskie singing lead and harmony and also playing guitar, and Terry McDonald, the band’s bass player.
